Nick Johnson

Nick Johnson  Lic. Ac, Dip.CHM, MBAcC, MRCHM

Nick Johnson is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC) and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (MRCHM).

Nick qualified as an Acupuncturist and Herbalist from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 1997. He has a busy private practice in London specialising in treating infertility and IVF.

Nick is also involved with lecturing at King’s College Hospital as part of the alternative medicines team, teaching the fundamentals of Chinese Medicine to 5th year medical students.

Running alongside his private clinic, Nick also works as assistant clinic manager and senior TCM practitioner at the Gateway Clinic. The Gateway is the only Acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic in the UK; part of the Lambeth NHS Primary Care Trust. Started in 1990, it is a GP and consultant referral clinic with over 150 doctors’ practices referring their patients to the clinic for Acupuncture and Herbal medicine. The clinic treats general health problems with Chinese medicine and also specialises in cancer care, musculo-skeletal pain, migraine, emotional problems and HIV. The clinic is also a teaching facility and centre of excellence for research. As senior practitioner Nick is involved in the day to day running of the clinic and the management of the twenty six staff that work in the clinic. 

In 2003, the NHS Gateway team won the award for ‘Good practice in integrated healthcare’, presented by HRH The Prince of Wales. This award established the clinic and staff as the gold standard for integrating Acupuncture within the NHS in the UK.
Nick’s passion is to increase the awareness of Chinese Medicine within the conventional medical community and to integrate Chinese Medicine further into the NHS.

Before studying Chinese medicine Nick completed a degree in computer science at Hatfield University and spent several years working abroad and in the UK for the space industry involved in programming weather satellites for the European space agency.
