Acupressure is an important part of Chinese Medicine it uses the same Meridian system and energy points as Acupuncture except that energy is balanced using finger pressure rather than needles.
According to Chinese Medicine theory when the body’s energy moves around the Meridian System in an uninterrupted flow good health is maintained.
Ill health is considered to be due to a disturbance of the flow of energy around the Meridian system this is known in Chinese Medicine as ‘Stagnation’.
By re-balancing the flow of energy along the Meridian system using acupressure the therapist can stimulate or reduce the amount of energy in the channels by massaging specific acupuncture points to reduce ‘Stagnation’ and encourage an improvement in a persons health.
The one-day workshop is a mixture of theory and the practical application of the acupressure techniques and will teach you:
- An overview of Chinese Medicine theory – Yin-Yang and the Five Phases, the concepts of Qi, Blood, Essence and fluids and basic tongue diagnosis.
- The Meridian system – mapping out the 12 channels, the flow and distribution of this network of energy and their interconnections with the internal organs.
- Point Location – Be able to locate important acupuncture points along the Meridian network, and combine these together to produce a therapeutic treatment.
- Using acupressure and point combinations to help treat common symptoms such as headaches, poor sleep, tiredness, low mood, respiratory problems, digestive disturbances and musculoskeletal pain.
- Using practical case studies to demonstrate the point combinations that can be used to bring about an improvement in your clients general health.
- Combining Western and Eastern massage techniques to enhance a musculoskeletal treatment with energy work to balance the body at different levels.
