This course is suitable for qualified therapists only, with ITEC or equivalent NVQ Level 3 in A&P and Massage.  You will be asked to sign a form to confirm whether or not you hold A&P/Massage qualifications as required.

The course is accredited by the Complementary Therapists Association (Embody) and 10 CPD credits are available to therapists.

Do you have clients who are tired a lot of the time, feel heavy and get lots of coughs and colds? Sound familiar? Well it is very common and it could be as a result of retained fluid.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle yet effective technique to stimulate the body’s fluid circulation. This can have a profound effect on the weight, shape and energy levels of some clients and although anyone can be affected by retained lymph, this treatment is particularly well suited to those who are less active.

There are many reasons why our bodies retain fluid and this practical one day course will equip the therapist to know;

  • The important structures and functions of the lymphatic system
  • How to identify the source of problems with a comprehensive case history to assess contraindications and treatment safety
  • Common disorders related to lymph tissues such as, sciatic symptoms, respiratory problems, immune deficiency and hypertension.  Why they occur, how these conditions affect the sufferer and what effects they have on other structures of the body
  • How to adapt your pressure for a range of clients, from those seeking relief from heavy legs to those requiring frequent treatment for underlying conditions
  • How to create a treatment for the whole body, putting together the techniques learned during the day into a flowing massage sequence.  These can be used within your current treatments or in their own right to provide you with an additional treatment to offer clients
  • Correct body use, breathing and working posture, to help you keep doing what you do best and increase your earning potential at the same time
  • How to offer the client appropriate aftercare and further treatment or referral if necessary
You will receive a comprehensive manual to support ongoing learning and you’ll have the opportunity to give and receive a full treatment which is important in seeing how the whole massage can fit together. Guidance will be given from the tutor as students work from notes under close supervision and there will time for questions. This course will clarify the way fluid works and give you the tools to deal with it safely and effectively.
