As therapists, we need to look after ourselves as well as our clients, after all, our bodies are the tools of the trade. All too often we see therapists having to give up what they love doing through poor posture, back ache and repetitive strain to thumbs and wrists, especially from deeper work.
Hands free massage is a unique fusion of massage techniques, ideal for all massage therapists and body-workers, whether recently qualified or experienced. We all need skills which maximise the effectiveness of our work, while reducing wear and tear on ourselves.
In this dynamic and practical one-day certificated course, we’ll take you from basic massage to a flowing hands free massage style. It will offer the therapist the skills to work on client’s muscles at a deeper level without putting extra pressure on your own.
Inspire Hands Free Massage Course Structure:
- Introduction to the tutor and other students and the exciting concept of hands free massage
- Hands free techniques and how to incorporate them into your existing treatments, adding another dimension to your work
- Deeper tissue massage, using forearms and elbows – many therapists are cautious about using deep touch as it may hurt you and the client, but we’ll show you the safe methods of applying pressure using your body weight, rather than strain through the hands and arms
- Safe ways of working to protect your hands, where elbow and forearm techniques are not appropriate
- Guidance on how to adapt pressure and personalise treatments. This massage can be adapted for a range of clients from those seeking deep relaxation to those requiring help with recovery from strenuous physical activity and exercise.
- Advice on how to create a treatment for the whole body, putting together the techniques learned during the day into a flowing massage sequence. These can be used in their own right to provide you with an additional treatment to offer clients
- Correct body use and working posture, to help you keep doing what you do best and increase your earning potential at the same time.
- A full manual with step by step photos to support ongoing learning
- An explanation of contraindications and treatment safety
- Teaching on using your body correctly, including body use, posture, breathing and how to use body weight in treatment
- Practical tuition with clear demonstrations of course material, broken down section by section to make it easier to follow and learn.
- The opportunity to give and receive a full treatment which is important in seeing how the whole massage can fit together. Guidance will be given from the tutor as students work from notes under close supervision.
- Discussion – Question and Answer time!
Course times: 10am to 5.30pm
